The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced to provide free of cost duplicate identity cards (ID) cards to flood affected citizens to speed up government’s efforts for rehabilitation and relief.
NADRA Deputy Chairman Tariq Malik said NADRA aims to provide free duplicate CNICs to the citizens badly affected and displaced due to floods.
He said the flood affected citizens don’t need to bring any document. They just need to approach NADRA Mobile Registration Vans and Manpack units to apply for CNICs. “We will gather biometrics including digital fingerprints and snapshot of citizens, their father/mother name and address for the identification of CNIC number and accordingly, will trace his CNIC.”
Malik disclosed that NADRA’s software engineers developed the software which will capture name, father’s name, date of birth, address and biometric information of the affected people and will locate lost CNIC. Mobile Registration Vans (MRVs) fitted with state-of-art computer and communication equipment are being deployed along with manpack units. “We are pulling our resources from areas which were lucky to evade flood havoc and deploy these resources in flood affected areas.”
He said the process will be simplified and the affected citizens who were already registered with NADRA will not be asked to produce any documents while they will receive their duplicate cards after giving their biometrics. Their cards will be processed on priority basis.
He emphasized that this service is only for those citizens which were hit by flood-APP.<<via>>
