- BISP has launched “Waseela-e-Taleem” a co-responsibility cash transfer (CCT) programme for the primary education of the children aged 5-12 years of its beneficiary families. (includes newly admitted and already admitted)
- The term “co-responsibility” refers to joint responsibility. (BISP will provide cash transfers while families will agree to send and retain their children in primary schools).
- Pakistan is committed to Universal primary Education as part of its commitment to the MDGs.
- BISP’s data (poverty scorecard survey) shows that over 71% children of its beneficiaries have never attended a school.
